The saga of the Fallout 76 canvas bag is likely something Bethesda never expected when it first revealed the game’s collector’s edition. And yet it was the canvas bag that served as a type of symbol for Fallout 76 as a whole, representing Bethesda’s inability to deliver a quality product as advertised. Now, Fallout 76 players are starting to receive those canvas bags as originally intended.

Right before E3 2019 was set to begin, Bethesda support revealed that the Fallout 76 Collector’s Edition canvas bags were set to ship. Presumably, this was a way for the developer to get ahead of any questions about the bags during E3, with a quick message that says they are coming. The focus at the event was largely on Wolfenstein Youngblood and Doom Eternal and Bethesda seemingly didn’t want anything to take away from that.

Following up, it now appears that some Fallout 76 fans are receiving their canvas bags, as evidenced by forum threads and social media posts. Collector’s Edition owners say that the bag is a quality product, which suggests that Bethesda did stick to its word and did not skimp on the manufacturing. It’s a smart move considering the type of backlash they could face the second time around.

Still, few will forget the launch of Fallout 76 and the controversy over its canvas bag. It started with confirmation that the bag was nylon and not canvas, but extended to issues with Bethesda’s security and influencer relations. And this was all while players were sharing their own issues with Fallout 76 as a game, from numerous bugs to a broken experience.

And similar to the bags, Bethesda is trying to do right by its players and plans to continue to support Fallout 76 in the long haul. During E3 2019 week, the developer released a battle royale mode called Nuclear Winter and that mode was so well received it has become a permanent fixture. On top of that, Bethesda is switching gears on a key component of its game by adding NPC quest givers in the Wastelanders update.

Fallout 76 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
