Although most of the game world has its eyes on E3 2019 this week, Pokemon GO fans have the annual Pokemon GO Fest event on their minds. The biggest event of the year for the game offers the opportunity for players around the world to unlock some special rewards and, this time around, it sounds like the global community will be able to get in on the fun and hunt down a shiny version of Horsea.

Although Horsea and its evolutions don't currently hold a super important role in the Pokemon GO meta game, new shiny chances are always exciting for trainers. This addition raises the opportunity to get three new shiny dex entries (for players who keep track of that sort of thing), so it's sure to bring out the die hard collectors.

Unlike some recent shiny creatures that left the community disappointed (we're looking at you Slaking), Horsea and its evolutions all look great fantastic and different from their regular sprites.

Niantic took to Twitter to confirm that players around the world, not just at the event in Chicago, can expect to see an increased spawn rate for Horsea and chances for a shiny spawn.

Collecting shiny Pokemon doesn’t give the trainer any kind of advantage in battle, but it is still a fun additional challenge to add into the game. Shiny Pokemon are perfect for leaving in Gyms to show off to the rest of the community.

Be sure to check back for more news, updates, and strategy guides as the summer events continue. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
