While many players are sure to have their eyes steadily fixed on the Borderlands 3 release date, a great number of fans continue to shoot and loot their way through Borderlands 2 and its bevy of DLC content. For those that still put their time towards this acclaimed 2012 shooter, or are simply looking for a reason to return to the game, a newly circulating rumor about Borderlands 2 DLC is certain to be a very exciting prospect indeed.

Specifically, there is indication that new Borderlands 2 DLC is set to release during E3 2019, and it will "bridge the gap between the end of Borderlands 2 and the beginning of Borderlands 3." This statement comes from PlayStation LifeStyle, and the site suggests that it has received its information on this new Borderlands 2 DLC from "a trusted anonymous source with first-hand knowledge."

Additionally, the rumor goes on to name the Borderlands 2 DLC in question, stating that it will be called Commander Lilith and the Fight for Sanctuary. While no specific details about the contents of this rumored Borderlands 2 DLC has been revealed, many fan theories, based on the title's reference to Lilith and the understanding that the DLC is intended to connect Borderlands 2 to Borderlands 3, are certain to circulate prior to E3 2019.

Again, these details on a new DLC for Borderlands 2 are far from officially confirmed at this time, and should thus be approached with skepticism. However, this is not the first indication that more post-launch content may be planned for Borderlands 2.

Indeed, over the past several months, fans have been tracking a great number of Borderlands 2 SteamDB updates, which has fueled speculation about new Borderlands 2 DLC. Furthermore, a mysterious Rainbow rarity was recently discovered in Borderlands 2, and this addition has also led some fans to believe that Gearbox is not quite finished with the title.

While players are expecting to see a new Borderlands 3 Vault Hunter and planet at E3 2019, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has also indicated that the company "may have a surprise or two up [its] sleeves" for the expo. Certainly, announcing and releasing new Borderlands 2 DLC content would surprise many fans, and players only have two more weeks to wait before they see if this Borderlands 2 rumor becomes a reality.
