Cresselia's appearance in level 5 Battle Raids today kicks off the next big series of Legendary appearances in Pokemon GO. Cresselia is the first of three bosses returning to raids early this summer and players are out in full force trying to capture the creature not just because of its relevance to the Pokemon GO metagame, but also because of the chance to acquire a new shiny.

Pokemon GO users have already started taking to Reddit just hours after the new boss appeared to confirm shiny spawns. There's plenty of screenshot proof, so players on the hunt for every shiny should definitely get out there and start completing as many Battle Raids as possible while Cresselia is in rotation.

Players have until June 18 to hunt down and capture a shiny version of Cresselia, at which point the level 5 Battle Raids will rotate to Kyogre and then Groudon. This is an exciting trio of bosses to kick off the summer raiding season, so Niantic is likely going to make a killing on Premium Raid Passes and see a lot of active users during the next month and a half.

Collecting shiny Pokemon doesn’t give the trainer any kind of advantage in battle, but it is still a fun additional challenge to add into the game. Shiny Pokemon are perfect for leaving in Gyms to show off to the rest of the community.

Be sure to check back in coming days for more Pokemon GO updates, news, and strategy guides. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is currently available in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
