Roundguard bounces its way to the crown at The PC Indie Pitch at PC Connects Seattle 19

PC Connects made its North American debut this month alongside The PC Indie Pitch at Pocket Gamer Connects.

This time we headed to the emerald city of Seattle to host a show that saw over 650 delegates soak in two days or talks, meeting, and fringe events on May 13th and 14th.

For those not in the know, the PC Indie Pitch is a regular event run by the makers of PCGamesInsider.biz. It gives indie developers the chance to pitch their games to industry experts and journalists in a speed-dating-style format. Teams get the opportunity to get valuable feedback on their games, as well as win great prizes such as promotional packages and the coveted PC Indie Pitch bat.

This time around we saw 15 local developers take to floor in order to pitch their latest creations to our expert judges, in order to hopefully walk away with one of our prizes, including the Baseball Bat trophy. As has become the norm at The PC Indie Pitch, there was a surprising amount of talent on display, and the judges had more than one or two tough calls to make when selecting who would walk away as the champion.

However, there can only be one winner, and that winner was Wonderbelly Games and their Peggle crossed with D&D creation Roundguard. Of course, we awarded prizes for second and third too, both of which you can learn more about below alongside our champion.

1st Place - Roundguard by Wonderbelly Games

Filled with a charming cast of oddballs, procedural dungeons and an awful lot of gold, Roundguard is a bouncy physics-based roguelite that bizarrely crosses Peggle and Dungeons & Dragons into a joyful addictive experience. If that in and of itself wasn't enough Roundguard also features intuitive physics-based gameplay, three different classes of warrior to choose from, and a plethora of unique skills, weapons, armour and other assorted goodies. Combine this with the unique procedural dungeons and you have an experience that is unique to each and every player. Oh and there's also a crazy comedic story and quests galore to go alongside the charming cast of oddballs to look out for.

2nd Place - Deleveled by Toasterfuel

Deleveled is a simple yet deep puzzle platformer. One in which players must simultaneously control two characters who are taken in different directions by exchanging momentum through solid surfaces. This clever use of both the environment and gravity will then allow players to devise a way to navigate their way through the dozens of puzzle platforming challenges. On top of this, players will also have to solve a variety of switch-based puzzles within each level too in order to complete each stage. As such, Delevelled promises both creative gameplay combined with a strong amount of challenge and charm.

3rd Place - Wintermoor Tactics Club by EVC

Wintermoor Tactics Club into the shoes of Alicia and her friends at the prestigious Wintermoor Academy's Tactics Club as they battle to save their club from being disbanded in the big snowball tournament. To do so, all of them together must find their inner strength and transform from introverted academics into the heroes they play in their tabletop campaign. That's not all though, as though this light Tactics RPG inspired by Final Fantasy Tactics and Steven Universe players will also be treated to a deep and thrilling story which will see the heroes unravel the mysteries behind the strange tournament.
