Just four days ago, Rockstar launched a major Red Dead Online update, which officially marked the end of the beta period for the online component of Red Dead Redemption 2. While many fans are now enjoying things like the continuation of the Red Dead Redemption 2 online "A Land of Opportunities" storyline, others are experiencing some serious issues with the game. Namely, a number of fans are reporting extremely frequent Red Dead 2 online crashing, and there does not appear to be a solution currently in sight.

Browsing community forums, such as the Red Dead Online subreddit and ResetEra, fans will encounter numerous references to the current Red Dead Redemption 2 online crashing. In these references, players indicate that they are experiencing blue screen crashes while playing the game, and the frequency at which they are encountering the Red Dead Online crashing certainly does not seem to be negligible.

On Reddit, for example, one player indicates that they experience Red Dead 2 online crashing almost every 30 minutes, while another claims that it occurs for them around three times per hour. In the most extreme instances, players report that they cannot go more than a few minutes without Red Dead Redemption 2 online crashing. Additionally, there are a myriad of other posts that do not cite a specific frequency, but they do echo the sentiment that crashing has increased significantly since the latest Red Dead Online update.

With respect to a Red Dead 2 online crash fix, Rockstar has not provided an official statement, though the company is responding to support tickets by asking that players clear the game cache files. On PlayStation 4, this is done by holding L1 and R1 when starting the game, but reports suggest that this method is not proving successful in eliminating Red Dead 2 online blue screen crashing.

All of this said, there are certainly players that are reportedly not experiencing any blue screen crashes or Red Dead Online connection issues, and it is thus not a universal concern. Indeed, these players can now begin trying out Red Dead Online poker and more, but, unfortunately, it seems that Rockstar still has some work to do to fix Red Dead 2 online crashing for PS4 and Xbox One players that are encountering the problem.

Red Dead Online is available now on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
