Five months ago, Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled was announced at last year's Game Awards and will serve as the remake of the 1999 racing game. Now, Activision and Beenox have revealed a new feature that will allow for more customization options within the game.

While the original game was boatloads of fun to play, it did not allow players to change the design of their characters' karts. However, the latest gameplay trailer of Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled reveals that players will now have to option to change the design of their characters' karts with a plethora of skins, colors, and parts to choose from.

Moreover, Sony revealed last month that the PS4 version of the game will be have console-exclusive goodies that will surely delight players of that system. The exclusive items will be in the form of skins that will allow players to switch up the high-definition character models of the remake to 32-bit inspired skins. It is currently unclear if all of the game's characters will be given the exclusive skins, given that the trailer only showed Crash, Coco, and Dr. Neo Cortex with modified visuals.

The original Crash Team Racing, which was originally developed by Naughty Dog, pitted characters from the Crash Bandicoot universe against each other. Just like the original game, Nitro-Fueled will feature 15 playable characters in a race to defeat the alien invader Nitros Oxide. The remake will feature 16 unique tracks and will include the iconic power-ups and speed boosters from the original game.

Apart from the Story mode and the local multiplayer mode that was featured in the original title, Nitro-Fueled will also introduce online multiplayer that will allow players to race with others from all over the world. The remake will be a complete overhaul of the original title that will sport updated graphics while retaining the core concept of the original.

All of the assets are brand new, the characters were built from the ground up, the same for the tracks and the remastered soundtrack. We even rerecorded every voiceover.

Activision announced Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled years after the successful release of Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy, which is a remade collection of the original games in the franchise comprising of Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped.

Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled is set to release on June 21, 2019, for the PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
