Indie MMORPG Oath has successfully funded on Kickstarter at nearly twice its original ask

Oath has been a bit of an anomaly on the Kickstarter scene this spring: Ten days into its campaign, it had raised only $6000, but a week later it had surged to cross its $35,000 finish line, and now, the game has just fully funded on the platform to the tune of $67,000 and change. Stretch goals along the way locked in a weather system and ocean content for the game; the campaign didn’t quite reach its goals for a farming system and “advanced continent wars.”

As we’ve previously covered, Oath is a free-to-play Unreal Engine 4 and SpatialOS MMORPG sandbox being built by five-man indie studio Ready-Up Studios. The game’s cutesy graphics are apparently placeholders; game features include seven classes, no gender-locking, PvE-focused dungeons and raids, and multiple PvP modes to boot. The Kickstarter was intended to fund content creation, 3-3D modeling, maps, and the UI, though the game’s action combat already looks pretty sweet. Alpha 1 is expected “early Q4 2019.”
