In a short interview live from the Star Wars Celebration main stage, Respawn Entertainment CEO Vince Zampella confirmed a few details about his studio's upcoming game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Specifically, Zampella revealed that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be an entirely single-player experience and won't feature any multiplayer or microtransactions.

Up until recently all that was known about Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was that it would feature a single-player mode. Given Respawn's experience with multiplayer games like Titanfall and Apex Legends, most assumed a multiplayer mode was in development alongside the single-player story but that's not the case.

Whereas Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order not having multiplayer is surprising but understandable, the lack of microtransactions is completely unexpected. Just recently reporting on Anthem's development has lent insight into EA's push to make all of its published games dependent on service structures. Respawn seemingly getting a free pass with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order marks a dramatic shift from what's perceived to be EA's modus operandi.

Alongside confirmation of no multiplayer or microtransactions, Respawn also confirmed that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will run on Unreal Engine 4 instead of the Frostbite Engine. Yet again this is a departure from the norm for Electronic Arts published games, especially those with the Star Wars license.

While the focus of the news was on what features Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order won't have, Respawn Entertainment did confirm one story detail. Apparently, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order's story will follow Jedi that survived Order 66. As fans know, Order 66 labeled the Jedi as traitors to the Galactic Republic and saw almost all of them executed at the hands of the clone troopers.

The full unveiling of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is still scheduled for Saturday, April 14th at the Star Wars Celebration event. Respawn's introduction to the game should be streamed on the official Star Wars YouTube channel starting at 11:30 am Pacific.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is planned for release holiday 2019.
