Black Desert Online Devs Sending the Shadow Arena Battle Royale Mode Into the Void

The Black Desert Online site has been updated with a note from the developers to let players know that the Shadow Arena, BDO's take on Battle Royale, will be going the way of the world later this week. The post indicates that the development needs of that particular modeh were taking away from the development of the larger MMO alongside "the rise of 3rd party software" causing issues with hacking.

As a result, we have decided that partial improvements on Shadow Arena would not be enough to keep it running as a regular feature. So after much consideration and discussion, we have ultimately decided to close Shadow Arena in its current state with the April 10th maintenance.

We recognise this may not be good news for those of you who have enjoyed Shadow Arena since its launch. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience we may have caused due to the relatively short notice we have provided, however, we are preparing a compensation package and we will share the details on this with a future announcement.

The Black Desert Online development team is currently focusing on not only introducing new content such as Star’s End, additional Adventure Log updates, and much more but also on improving the existing content already in the game.

Shadow Arena has been plagued with rampant allegations of cheating by the community further exacerbated by a lack of communication from the developers about what they were doing to solve the issue.
