Pokemon GO's Bug Out event is now live in the game, giving players a number of bonuses from now until April 9. This includes the chance to catch shiny Scyther, which Niantic added to the Bug Out event as a surprise to trainers. With shiny Scyther and Scizor now in Pokemon GO, some fans may be wondering exactly how to add the ultra-rare bug-type Pokemon to their collection.

To catch shiny Scyther in Pokemon GO, players really just need to catch as many Scyther as possible and hope that one is shiny. While this is true for any time Pokemon GO players want to catch a shiny Pokemon, the Bug Out event means that they will have a better opportunity to do so. Not only should Scyther appear more often in the wild, but Pokemon GO players can also encounter Scyther through special Bug Out event Field Research. More specifically, they will encounter Scyther when completing the Catch 10 Bug-type Pokemon task.

If Pokemon GO players catch enough Scythers during the Bug Out event, odds are that at least one of them will be shiny. Luckily for any Pokemon GO players struggling to catch shiny Scyther, there are ways that they can make the process a bit easier. For example, they can use incense to attract more bug-type Pokemon to them during the event, with incense running twice as long until the Bug Out event ends.

Incense has gotten an additional boost during the Pokemon GO Bug Out event. Not only will incense last twice as long as usual, but more Pokemon will be attracted to it. This means that incense will really come in handy for any Pokemon GO players looking to catch shiny Scyther during the Bug Out event.

Of course, with the addition of shiny Scyther, that also means shiny Scizor is available now as well. To get a shiny Scizor in Pokemon GO, players first have to catch a shiny Scyther. After that, they need to collect at least 50 Scyther candy, which should be a lot easier to do while the Bug Out event is live. When that's done, the next step is to get a Metal Coat, which is an evolution item earned from spinning PokeStops. If players manage to get a seven day streak of spinning PokeStops, they will be guaranteed an evolution item. Anyone that has been playing regularly since launch should have more Metal Coats than they know what to do with.

As long as they have plenty of Pokeballs and a Metal Coat handy, Pokemon GO players should have no issue catching both shiny Scyther and shiny Scizor during the Bug Out event.

Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
