Several months ago, the retiring president and chief operating officer of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime, explained to Red Dead Redemption 2 fans why Rockstar Games' open world action-adventure epic is currently not a Nintendo Switch release. Now, though, should a recent piece of supposedly leaked information by Target Australia be accurate, then RDR2 could very well be coming to the Big N's hybrid mobile console at some point in the future.

This much has been discovered on page 12 of Target Australia's latest catalogue, with the retailer listing Red Dead Redemption 2 as being available on its current platforms of PlayStation 4 and Xbox, as well as on the Nintendo Switch. Following this particular find, Target has since updated the listing in its online catalogue to reflect a change that removes the Switch as one of the game's supported platforms, with it now only showing Red Dead Redemption 2 on Xbox One and PS4.

Bearing in mind the subsequent changes that Target has made to its advertisement, there's a good chance the original information was simply shared in error, and that there are no plans to bring Red Dead Redemption 2 to the Nintendo Switch. After all, retailers occasionally make mistakes with video game listings, and wind up amending the oversight after gamers find and publicize the incorrect detail.

What's more is that with RDR2 being such a large and technically demanding game, it seems like a stretch that the Nintendo Switch would actually be able to support it - that is, unless Red Dead Redemption 2 received a graphics downgrade of major proportions to make it palatable on the system. Nevertheless, stranger things have happened.

All things considered, it would definitely be interesting to see what Red Dead Redemption 2 could be like as a Nintendo Switch experience. Recent reports have indicated that the Big N is working on a Switch "Pro", which could provide a boost in power compared to the original version of the console, but it remains to be seen if such an increase in hardware heft would be strong enough to run a title like Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
