Even though Pokemon GO already has a reputation for plenty of events to keep its player base engaged, it seems the developer Niantic is planning on ending March on a high note. For example, March 23 is Treecko Community day where fans can earn themselves a shiny Grass-type starter. The Equinox event is running from now through March 26, with players also having received new Equinox event Field Research Tasks and Rewards. And now, on March 30, there will be another Limited Time Research event focused on Lotad and Castform, but with some key changes.

Previously, Limited Time Research events lasted for 3 hours like Treecko Community Day and required players to complete research tasks to unlock the featured Pokemon. However, likely due to players' negative feedback on the hardship of the event and lack of shinies, this new Limited Time Research will run from 11 am to 8 pm in players' local time on March 30. Players will still need to complete research tasks to unlock Lotad and Castform, but unlike previous events, there is a confirmed chance for shinies as part of this Pokemon GO Limited Research day.

Beyond the Pokemon GO Field Research tasks, there will also be an increased spawn during this time period for all Weather-boosted Pokemon, and Castform is getting a new move: Weather Ball. With the increased length and added bonuses, perhaps this Limited Research day will go over better than its predecessors with the community.

It's worth highlighting that only the standard form of Castform is receiving a shiny form and not its weather-based Pokemon GO variants. The normally grey Castform becomes pink when shiny, and the Lotad family takes on a dark hue. Lotad takes on an almost purple appearance, Lombre takes on a darker blue and a sharper green, and Ludicolo maintains the blue and its body becomes slightly browner.

With Niantic ending March on this high note, it begs the question of what will come in April. Players can only wait and see, but with constant support and frequent events, it's looking as if Pokemon GO will have as strong of a showing in 2019 as it did in 2018.
