Last year, it was announced that Call of Duty: Mobile, a forthcoming entry in the first-person shooter franchise that is intended for iOS and Android devices, was on its way to China. Now, it seems that more players will have an opportunity to play Call of Duty on the go, as Activision has confirmed the game's launch for the West.

Call of Duty: Mobile will be free-to-play, and it looks to bring together "a collection of beloved Call of Duty characters, maps, modes, and weapons" culled from across the series. This will include maps like Nuketown and Crash, which are seen in an announcement trailer that was recently shared.

This trailer also offers more details on what fans can expect from the mobile title. While, of course, it gives a look at gameplay, it further emphasizes Call of Duty: Mobile's focus on "signature multiplayer" and fighting alongside friends.

Additionally, there are some teases near the end of the video that may have some players speculating about the scope of the game. For instance, an image of a number of approaching helicopters suggests that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's battle royale mode, Blackout, may be available, and the appearance of a three-headed dog points to the inclusion of a Zombies game mode. The trailer further indicates that there is "more to come."

Call of Duty: Mobile is built on Unity, and it is developed by the in-house studio at Tencent, the China-based gaming juggernaut. It has been "optimized for mobile," and, as previously stated, it will be available exclusively for iOS and Android.

While no official release date has been confirmed, players can pre-register on the game's website right here to participate in the upcoming beta tests for the title. Pre-registering also acts as a way for fans to stay up to date on Call of Duty: Mobile's progress, and it comes with the chance of earning exclusive in-game rewards.

With both Fortnite and PUBG currently available on mobile devices, there are already some opportunities for fans to carry their favorite shooters with them. However, it does seem that Call of Duty: Mobile is looking to offer an expansive experience, and many players in North America, South America, and Europe will certainly be excited to learn that they will now have the opportunity to play it.

Call of Duty: Mobile is currently in development for Android and iOS.
