Neverwinter descends into the depths of Undermountain this spring in its ‘largest expansion ever’

Them's fightin' words.

Although the arrival of spring may bring bright sun and beautiful blossoms, the adventurers of Neverwinter will likely find themselves far from the light of day as they delve deep into the decrepit dungeons of Undermountain, one of the Forgotten Realms’ most iconic — and perilous — locales. Once the home of Dwarves, the labyrinthine mines of Undermountain have long been overrun by more sinister inhabitants, including Drow, Duergar, various criminal syndicates, and the infamous mad wizard Halaster Blackcloak.

When the update goes live, players will be able to descend into “five new adventure zones spanning several levels of Undermountain” and work their way to the new level cap of 80. On top of that, the update will also introduce “improved level-scaling for earlier zones, class ability and balance overhauls,” and the first bit of new endgame content, the Lair of the Mad Mage.

And for players who just can’t wait until the update’s unspecified spring release date to venture into Undermountain, the developers have announced that the new content will be available on the game’s preview server starting Friday, March 1st. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players will have to wait a bit longer, however, as right now the only timeframe we have for the update’s release is “at a later date” following its PC release. In the meantime, though, you can watch the update’s reveal trailer just below.
