OFF WITH HIS KNEES

For Valentine’s Day, the folks at Gloria Victis gave their players a rather unconventional present: movable catapults. Sure, they may not be able to launch a 90 kilogram stone projectile over 300 meters, but they should nevertheless make siege battles a bit more exciting. There is a bit of a caveat, however: As this first iteration of the catapults is a “soft launch” of sorts, their damage is currently “quite low” so as to allow the devs to gather data and iron out any bugs that may arise.

Along with the movable catapults, the devs also introduced the Deadly Harvest world PvP event, in which the game’s various nations must compete to capture and control the most locations throughout the world. The ongoing event will begin daily “in the prime time of each server” and will last for two hours.

And to top it all off, the game’s crafting system has been further streamlined, “updating the flow of creating medium and heavy armors.” Maille materials have been removed from the game entirely, as there were just too bloody many of them, and they were “inconvenient to use.” From here on out, standard metal bars will be used in their place. In addition, when making heavy armor, players can now choose to use raw materials in place of prerequisite medium armor pieces — e.g., if a heavy armor recipe calls for chainmail, you can substitute steel bars instead.

The update also added a great deal of quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes to the game, the full details of which you can find in the complete patch notes on the game’s official site.
