Two months ago, rumors began to circulate that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt would be coming to the Nintendo Switch. The speculation started after a retailer listed the game online and fans of CD Projekt RED's acclaimed fantasy RPG discussed whether it was real or if it was just a mistake.

CD Projekt RED hasn't commented on the rumors yet and the announcement was absent from the latest Nintendo Direct presentation. However, the discovery of a new job listing at The Witcher 3 developer has led to further speculation. The listing is for the role of "Head of Software Engineering at GOG Galaxy" (GOG Galaxy is CD Projekt RED's game distribution platform). It asks applicants to "imagine that game developers can connect players across GOG.com, Steam, Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch."

The job listing, which was brought to light by YouTuber Doctre81, doesn't explicitly mention The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. However, it does confirm that CD Projekt RED sees a lot of potential in the Nintendo Switch. If the developer is hiring those with interest or experience in the Switch, it's reasonable to think that a Switch port of The Witcher 3 could be on the way as well.

Casting doubt on the rumors, however, is how demanding The Witcher 3 is, even the PC version. The game's expansion packs, Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone, also added more than two dozen hours of additional gameplay content. The Nintendo Switch isn't known for its power and many are scratching their heads over how CD Projekt RED could get The Witcher 3 running smoothly on the console (even with the help of a talented engineer).

A Nintendo Switch version of The Witcher 3 is far from confirmed by this job listing but even if a port isn't happening, Switch fans should still be interested in what the studio is doing. So far, just two games have full cross-platform play (PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch) and these are Fortnite and Rocket League. However, as more games enable cross-play (or are given Sony's blessing), developers will need plenty of support, strong communication, and any social features. It sounds like CD Projekt RED plans to use GOG Galaxy to help with that, making this well worth watching.
