Since the release of Fallout 76 in November of last year, the issue of inventory management has been a frequent point of discussion amongst the community, with many players voicing frustration about how frequently their characters become over-encumbered. Bethesda has continually acknowledged this concern, and the company once again looks to address it in an upcoming patch.

Specifically, Fallout 76's next update, which is planned for next week, will increase Stash limits to 800 pounds, allowing players to lighten the loads of their characters with additional storage opportunities. "Like last time, we are constantly evaluating storage space and discussing ways we can make improvements," Bethesda's post about the update indicates.

The "last time" that the company is referring to in this statement is when it previously raised Stash limits from 400 to 600 pounds back in December. This was Bethesda's first attempt to address Stash sizes in the game, but this upcoming patch clearly suggests that this increase was not considered satisfactory by a vocal portion of the player base.

Of course, this issue could be avoided altogether by exponentially increasing Stash limits or character carry weights. However, the company's concerns lie with how that would affect server load, and it is unwilling to implement an update "at the expense of server stability."

Stash size is not all that is in the purview of Fallout 76's next update though, and Bethesda has outlined a number of additional changes fans can expect. Amongst these changes are the reclassification of M79 Grenade Launchers and Auto Grenade Launchers as well as an alteration that will prevent players from being tagged for PvP when they accidentally damage another player's C.A.M.P.

Furthermore, the company has indicated that there are a number of big things on the way to the title this year, including the previously announced Survival mode. More details on exactly what is planned, and when it will come, should be made available with a roadmap that is set to be revealed later this month.

With the upcoming patch to Fallout 76, storage space will have fully doubled from what it was when the game launched. While this is undoubtedly an improvement, only time will tell if that amount is considered adequate by frustrated players.

Fallout 76 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
