All good, sure, why not.

The hunt will soon be on in Citadel Studios’s moddable sandbox MMO Legends of Aria, which has just announced its upcoming Relic of the Ancients event. Over the course of the event, which will run this weekend from February 15th to February 17th, “players will be challenged to decipher clues to discover ever-changing ‘hotspots’ throughout the game world.”

Players who manage to puzzle out the whereabouts of these hotspots will find it to be well worth their while, as enemies found in those locations “will drop their regular loot and some extras too.” Hotspots can appear in both the relative safety of the guarded zone as well as the harsh, unforgiving wilderness, though the press release notes that creatures in the wilderness will offer players a chance at the best loot. In addition to bonus loot drops, players can also find and collect Relic Fragments that can be exchanged for “super secret exclusive items.”

Citadel also has a letter up for the community this week with more of an outlook for the future. Studio boss Derek Brinkmann says the studio is “growing rapidly” with three new hires, “accelerating towards the Frozen Tundra content patch,” and working on AI.

“We’re happy to announce that our Gameplay Lead Kade is putting some finishing touches to an entirely new AI system which is a game changer in how our monsters perceive, think and move in Legends of Aria (in addition to solving any legacy AI bugs in one fell swoop). This new AI system coincides with our desire to bring a much more tactical aspect to PvE encounters and allow monsters to deploy an arsenal of abilities and manoeuvres which truly test our players.”

If you haven’t checked out Legends of Aria and are keen to do so, this weekend will be a good time to do it. For the duration of the event, the game will be on sale for $19.99 US. So put on your thinking caps and sharpen your swords, adventurers, and prepare to put both your brain and your brawn to use.
