Fallout 76 Player Accidentally Discovers In-Development Vault

by Imran Khan on Feb 11, 2019 at 01:20 PM

It's not hard to work your way to places you shouldn't be in Bethesda games. Sometimes players discover rooms that were meant to be in the game but didn't make the cut or items that weren't meant for public eyes. In the case of Fallout 76 this past weekend, it turned out to be an entire in-development vault.

When Fallout 76 player McStaken accidentally found himself inside a vault while playing another mission in the game, he quickly discovered that there was no way out. He posted about it on Reddit, which prompted him to poke around the vault and realize it was thus far undiscovered. In it, he found a trashed kitchen, furniture dotted along the vault, an Overseer's office, and a working terminal that says "Nice Job A--holes."

Bethesda's community manager eventually posted a comment in the thread confirming that he discovered an "under construction" vault: "Glad to hear you got in and out of the Vault in one piece. These Vaults are still under construction, but we look forward to sharing more on how they will become part of the game. In the meantime, we also appreciate when players like yourself let us know about stuff like this. We have shared with the team and will let you know if we have any follow up questions. Thank you!"

While McStaken was worried he would be banned for being somewhere he wasn't supposed to be, as happened to players that accessed the game's hidden developer room. That situation differs, however, as third party software was reportedly used to gain access to the otherwise hidden room. This was just a player accidentally ending up there, so he's safe. Well, safe from banning, he might get stuck in more vaults.
