Heroes of the Storm Production Director Kaeo Milker published a lengthy post on the game's official site to give the community a forward look at what it can expect to see from the game in the coming months. He begins with an apology for the silence of late, "We've been working very hard behind the scenes to regroup as a team and align on our goals for 2019 and beyond."

After reviewing some of the things that have most recently gone into the game (Imperius, balance changes, etc.), Milker speaks to seasonal events as some had noticed that the Lunar New Year event still hadn't been released. According to Milker, the event is being re-tuned to be a Spring Event that will hit PTS next month. Players can also look forward to familiar events coming at regular intervals including Nexomania, The Fall of King's Crest and Toys in Winter. The team is also working to "explore fun new universes and themes to coincide with each season moving forward".

Players can also look forward to the addition of a new Hero soon. Some wily fans have opined that it could be Anduin Wrynn from World of Warcraft.

Probably the most exciting thing for most players are changes in how Hero skins can be obtained to better align with Heroes 2.0. Starting with the Resistance update coming in the next weeks, all skins will be able to be purchased individually.

  • each skin will have both a Gems (premium currency) and Shard (earned in-game) price
  • players will be able to convert Gold earned through gameplay into Shards

There are plans in the next few months for a number of AMAs with the dev team too as it plans more regular community updates.

So that’s a lot of stuff summarized at once here, and the team will be elaborating on it all as it unfolds across the next few patches. The past few months have been challenging for us, but the Heroes team is united with a passion for this game and all of you in our community. It’s been difficult to remain so silent while we unpacked all these changes, but we’re eager to get back to communicating regularly with you and talking about the game we all love. To that end, be on the lookout for our next few AMAs across February, March, and April and we’ll be striving to find more ways to get our developers involved in discussing the game with you.
