Pokemon GO's February Community Day event is officially confirmed and players will be out on the hunt for Swinub next month. Players will have the usual three hours to catch as many of the creature as possible, but most importantly (for some trainers) is the opportunity to add some new shiny Pokemon to their collection.

Although Swinub isn't necessarily the most popular Pokemon, its evolutions are useful for certain Battle Raid matchups and the February event is likely to be a popular one. As usual, the Community Day event will likely also coincide with a major increase in shiny sightings for the featured creature. The shiny Swinub family is a pretty cool looking bunch and we've got an early look at the models for trainers who are curious about what to keep an eye out for.

Although Swinub may not have been the most meta-relevant family a year ago, the addition of Gen 4 has definitely made it more of an interesting contendor for Battle Raids and PvP Battles. Players who don't already have at least one high IV copy of to evolve should use the Community Day event to fill in that gap in their party.

Collecting shiny Pokemon doesn’t give the trainer any kind of advantage in battle, but it is still a fun additional challenge to add into the game. Shiny Pokemon are perfect for leaving in Gyms to show off to the rest of the community.

Check back for more news, updates, and guides about the ongoing event in the coming days. Until then, good luck out there, trainers.

Pokemon GO is currently available in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
