Guild Wars 2 rings in the year of the boar with its Lunar New Year festival

The Lunar New Year is just around the corner, and for the peoples of Tyria, that means it’s time for Guild Wars 2’s annual celebration, welcoming the year of the boar with good food and good fortune. As usual, Divinity’s Reach will play host to the festivities, in which players can earn essences of luck from lucky envelopes, sample delicious (and buff-granting) foods, and earn suitably suidian cosmetic items.

New to this year’s Lunar New Year celebration is a second Firecracker Lighting course, in which players will “test their navigation skills across the grand edifices of Divinity’s Reach,” and lucky envelope rewards have been updated to include new items befitting the year of the boar. Particularly fortunate players will even be able to get their hands on the new boar lantern back items.

Although the festival is of course the main focus of the latest update, it also brought with it a handful of minor adjustments and bug fixes. For instance, time-based adventures “will now display the player’s final time on the leaderboard and in the chat log,” which should make it easier for players to see how their performances stack up against their fellow players’. In addition, the Engineer, Guardian, Mesmer, Ranger, Thief, and Warrior classes have all received some minor adjustments and/or bug fixes, the details of which you can find in the full patch notes over on the game’s official site.
