Fortnite's ice storm event is now live in the battle royale game, covering the map in ice and snow, dense fogs, and zombie-like enemies called ice fiends. Modeled after the cube monsters that players fought during the cube event last season, these ice fiends can spawn in various places around the map, and players have to kill them to complete special challenges and earn exclusive rewards.

The ice fiends can spawn pretty much anywhere on the Fortnite battle royale map, emerging from large chunks of ice. They function basically the same as the cube monsters, with players able to kill them for extra loot and destroy the ice chunks that they spawn from for even better gear. The ice fiends can prove problematic when in a firefight with other players, so Fortnite fans will want to make sure the coast is clear before they engage them.

Since ice fiends can spawn anywhere on the battle royale map, Fortnite players are free to explore wherever they like in search of them. To make the process quicker, however, some may want to hop on a vehicle, like a quadcrasher or a plane, so that they can travel the map faster and find more ice fiends in any given match.

As far as finding a plane goes in Fortnite, they spawn in multiple locations around the map as well. Fortnite players can find planes at expedition outposts, or at named locations, like Frosty Flights. Frosty Flights is always guaranteed to have at least one plane at its runway, and people rarely seem to land there, so it's arguably the best place to go for anyone wanting a plane.

Regardless of how they find them, upon locating ice fiends in Fortnite, players can simply engage with them how they would any other enemy. Like with human enemies, headshots do more damage, so players will want to aim for the ice fiends' cranium to conserve ammo.

In the coming days, more ice fiend-related challenges are set to be added to Fortnite, so fans of the game should be sure to participate as much as possible if they hope to complete them all. In the meantime, it's possible that the ice fiends will evolve over time or a showdown with the Ice King will take place, as has been rumored, but fans will just have to say tuned for more information on those fronts.

Fortnite is out now in early access for iOS, Android, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
