The original Persona Q on the 3DS successfully combined the gameplay of the Persona series and the Etrian Odyssey franchise, earning high marks with critics and standing out as one of the best-rated 3DS games in 2014. Last year, a sequel called Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth launched in Japan, but until now, there has been no word on a western release.

Atlus still hasn't officially announced an English version of Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth, but the Australian Government Department of Communications and the Arts recently classified it with an M rating. While this isn't exactly a release date announcement, it's still a good indication that Atlus is looking to bring the dungeon crawling game out of Japan.

Besides the fact that Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth received a classification rating, something else fans may find interesting is that it's listed as a multi-platform title. This could be a sign that Persona Q2 will release on more than just the 3DS when it launches in western territories, with the most obvious choice being the Nintendo Switch.

After all, Nintendo appears to be making a concerted effort to court Persona fans to the Switch. Rumors have it that Persona 5 R will be coming to the Switch, and the Big N has also seen fit to add Persona 5 protagonist Joker to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a DLC fighter. Joker plays a central role in Persona Q2, so it would make sense for the game to come to the Switch as well as the 3DS.

While Nintendo is still supporting the 3DS with the occasional release, there's no denying that the handheld is in its twilight years. Nintendo has ramped up production of Nintendo Switch games instead of focusing on 3DS titles, with plans to release a number of high profile Switch exclusives throughout 2019. Considering this, it wouldn't be surprising if Atlus opted to release Persona Q2 for more platforms than just the 3DS.

Of course, it's worth pointing out that Persona Q2 hasn't even been confirmed for release outside of Japan just yet, let alone on a platform other than the 3DS. Hopefully Nintendo or Atlus offer some clarification soon.
