Knives out.

The latest patch for Diablo III is currently available, and it adds the game’s sixteenth season to the game. Of course, that’s not all it adds; the game also has a number of quality-of-life improvements and several balancing changes made to class sets, along with improvements to matchmaking across the board. They’re all changes players have asked for, even. They may not, however, be terribly exciting improvements.

No, the real future of the franchise right now is Diablo Immortal, and however you may feel about that, an in-depth analysis from a financial investment standpoint makes it clear that there’s every reason to believe that’s going to be a hit. Of course, it’s also noted by the analyst that in order for the game to really do well, Blizzard will need to manage the fact that it pretty thoroughly bungled the announcement… so let’s see if that happens.
