Kingdom Hearts III's Vocal Theme Face My Fears Is Now Streaming

by Imran Khan on Jan 18, 2019 at 12:40 PM

I hold a lot of nostalgia for Kingdom Hearts' opening themes. The two previous series vocal themes, Simple & Clean and Sanctuary, find occasional placement in my streaming playlists and inevitably get me daydreaming about those games and their still extremely impressive CG intros. Now, the newest song in the series, Face My Fears, is available on streaming services for you to attach a new age of nostalgia to.

I am not sure if it slaps, but I am also not entirely sure what it means, but it sounds a lot better than I expected a J-Pop song with Skrillex collaborating to sound. We'll see how it affects me on the other side of the third Kingdom Hearts game, though.

Utada Hikaru was a natural pick for Square for Kingdom Hearts' vocal themes due to her immense popularity and cross-national appeal. Having been born in New York City and educated at Columbia, the singer and songwriter was uniquely qualified to help shepherd the series' appeal in both Japan and America. Between Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts III, Utada has semi-retired, had a child, come back from retirement, changed her stage name, and come back again. She is frequently voted as a favorite artist in Japanese music polls.

Kingdom Hearts III releases on January 29 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
