Blizzard co-founder Mike Morhaime finally departs the company this April

Mike Morhaime will leave Blizzard Entertainment for good in April.

Morhaime stepped down as president of the company he co-founded in 1991 back in October - but remained on board as a strategic advisor. World of Warcraft executive producer J.Allen Brack replaced him as the head of the venerable studio.

A securities exchange filing has since confirmed that the strategic advisor move was only a six-month measure before Morhaime’s ultimate departure. After 28 years, Morhaime will be gone from the company he helped start for good.

Morhaime’s departure, along with the January exit of Activision head Eric Hirshberg, has kicked off a major reshuffle at the top of Activision Blizzard. The publisher has appointed three new presidents in Activision, King, and Business.

Activision Blizzard’s rollercoaster continued as the company said farewell to CFO Amrita Ahuja, who has taken on a role as finance officer at payment company Square.

Losses kept on coming as Activision today revealed that it has parted from Destiny developer Bungie - handing IP and publishing rights to the sci-fi shooter back to the developer.

Morhaime has yet to announce what post-Blizzard plans he has in store. For Activision Blizzard, the future seems just as unknown.
