It's been a while since fans have gotten any new details pertaining to the popular looter shooter franchise Borderlands, though most are expecting an announcement of sorts regarding a brand new game. Outside of a potential Borderlands 3, a different rumor from earlier in 2018 hinted that a game of the year edition of the original title in the series could also be on the way. Seven months later, a new rating has appeared online indicating that a full reveal could be around the corner.

This week, the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee rated a game called Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition for the PS4 and Xbox One consoles. Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that the rating also revealed the developer as Blind Squirrel Games, a studio that has a lot of experience working with Take-Two on many of its biggest franchises.

According to the studio's website, it has provided assistance on BioShock Infinite, Mafia 3, Borderlands 2, Prey, XCOM 2, and many more. The studio also isn't a stranger to remasters either, having previously worked with 2K Games to develop The BioShock Collection.

Borderlands Comes to Xbox One

The first Borderlands game originally launched back in 2009 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. Oddly enough, though, it has never been re-released in any capacity. The two games that followed–Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel–have since been re-packaged together into The Handsome Collection, which also adds all post-launch content to both games, as well as new enhancements for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms.

These days, it seems that the Borderlands franchise can't keep a secret. Last month saw plenty of leaked information appear online from the highly anticipated Borderlands 3. While none of the information has been confirmed by any official sources, the new details contained all sorts of new data such as concept art, story details, and even four new character classes. These reports mentioned an Assassin style class that can summon decoys, a Soldier with the ability to "titanfall" a mech from the sky, a new Siren class that is more melee focused than the past incarnations, and a Beast Master class that is able to summon three different pets.

The Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition for PS4 and Xbox One has yet to be officially announced.
