As many gamers might remember, The Last of Us: Part 2 skipped out on The Game Awards 2018 due to the fact that Naughty Dog has been “hard at work” on the forthcoming title, with the studio stating it would reveal more “when the time is right”. Now, it looks as if such highly coveted information may have been shared inadvertently before the developer's say-so, with TLOU2's release date potentially having been confirmed for 2019.

According to the content from a pair of now-deleted tweets from the games journalist Alanah Pearce, The Last of Us: Part 2's release date has "100%" been confirmed for 2019, as she has apparently been told as much "multiple times by multiple people" within the industry. She also went on to state that there's always the possibility of the time frame for TLOU2's launch to change, as this can often occur throughout the development of any given game.

For those unaware, this isn't the first instance of The Last of Us: Part 2's release date being outed as 2019, with the description from a PlayStation Music clip of Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker performing "Wayfaring Stranger" at PSX 2017 stating it's set to launch this year. That said, though, Naughty Dog has yet to openly announce anything remotely related to the game's availability just yet, leaving many to speculate exactly when it will go live.

Taking everything here into consideration, Pearce's tweets will undoubtedly add more fuel to the fire of fans' theories regarding The Last of Us: Part 2's release date, as their deletion potentially implies that Naughty Dog wants to make the announcement itself in case a delay does in fact happen. That said, it's also worth mentioning that Pearce could very well have been sharing incorrect details, and took the tweets down in order to not spread misinformation. At any rate, we will simply have to wait and see just when Naughty Dog intends to give the world The Last of Us: Part 2.
