Without a doubt, Crackdown 3 has had a rather tumultuous development cycle since it was initially announced. In order to assuage any worries that fans of the franchise may have for the sequel, Xbox head Phil Spencer declared a few months ago that there's still work to do, but good progress had been made up to then. Now, with the first-party Microsoft title set to launch in about two months from now, the development team at Sumo Digital has decided to give a look at the headway it's made thus far by releasing some fresh gameplay footage of the project's single-player.

Joseph Staten, the Creative Director for Microsoft Studios, gives players a guided tour through some of Crackdown 3's single-player content, with the gameplay coming from about three to four hours into the campaign. Staten explains a how Agents' unique abilities work, and also confirms that the sequel will have its Agent saves be independent from its World saves, meaning that players will be able to select a character to play with first and then jump into a different campaign save file as that given Agent.

Staten decides to dive into New Providence with actor Terry Crews' in-game character, Jaxon. The Microsoft dev uses Jaxon as a means to take on Crackdown 3's non-linear campaign by chipping away at "Industry" targets to liberate the island's population from the nefarious TerraNova corporation.

After a brief preamble, the Microsoft Studios Creative Director sends Jaxon on a one-man destruction mission, as he destroys machinery and serves up a beat down to various enemies with the use of fists, firearms, and explosives. Eventually, destroying enough landmarks draws out the area's boss, but the gameplay stops just short of showing off the actual battle.

Considering the latest bit of Crackdown 3 single-player content, it's evident that Sumo Digital has put a significant amount of work into refining the overall look and feel of the title's gameplay, as the current build indicates marked improvements have been made overall. Thankfully, players won't have to wait too much longer to give the game a go themselves, as Crackdown 3 hits store shelves in early 2019.

Crackdown 3 is currently scheduled to release on February 15, 2019 for PC and Xbox One.
