Mortal Kombat 11: How to Get in the Beta

Here is currently the only way how any interested gamers can gain access to the Mortal Kombat 11 beta when it becomes available some time in the next few months.

When Mortal Kombat 11 was announced at The Game Awards 2018, it revealed some key things about the upcoming fighting game. For one, it confirmed that series mainstays Scorpion and Raiden would be returning, and secondly, it revealed that a beta will be held prior to its launch on April 23, 2019.

Mortal Kombat 11's reveal at The Game Awards 2018 also confirmed how players will be able to access the beta. While there may be plans in the future to host an open beta available to anyone, right now there is only one way Mortal Kombat 11 fans can play the beta, and that's by pre-ordering the game.

Mortal Kombat 11's pre-order bonuses have already caused some controversy, though locking the beta behind a pre-order isn't as controversial as doing the same thing with an entire playable fighter. As was also revealed at The Game Awards 2018, Shao Kahn is a pre-order bonus, meaning those that just buy the base game at launch will have a less extensive roster than those that decide to pre-order the game.

In the meantime, some Mortal Kombat 11 fans may be wondering when more information on the game will be revealed. While it's possible information could be announced or leaked within the next couple of weeks, we know for certain that official details are coming on January 17 during the Community Reveal Event. What exactly the event will reveal has yet to be determined, but there are a number of possibilities.

For example, it's possible that the January 17 Community Reveal Event will reveal the beta release date, and it's also possible that it may offer an in-depth look at some new gameplay features or modes. Alternatively, the Community Reveal Event could reveal some new playable fighters, and maybe even confirm some guest characters, like the rumored Spawn, for instance.

Whatever the Community Reveal Event has in store, Mortal Kombat 11 fans should be able to expect plenty of new information on the game within the next few months, as NetherRealm and Warner Bros. Interactive will want to drum up as much hype for it as possible.

Mortal Kombat 11 launches on April 23, 2019 for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
