Players looking for new things to do in Destiny 2 got their wish this week as the first post-Forsaken content update known as Black Armory arrived. While not a traditional expansion, Black Armory acts more like a subscription service, unlocking new quests and contents over time rather than all at once. Even with new Lost Forges lighting up, Black Armory gear to acquire, and a brand new Raid to overcome, Bungie isn't stopping to rest and detailed an expansive list of balance changes arriving int he weeks and months to come.

Design Lead, Josh Hamrick, took to the weekly update blog to reveal some hot-button topics that the Destiny 2 team is currently working on, which are set to be introduced through smaller patches more often, rather than in huge chunks as the studio has previously done. The Crucible has been a sore spot for some solo players, who are regularly matched up with dedicated fireteams. Bungie is currently looking into ways to not only better match up similar players, but also better balancing matching up high glory teams against similarly skilled opponents rather than against less experienced lower glory teams.

Power ammo is also being adjusted across most Competitive modes which increase the respawn timer after the initial timer. Control, Rumble, and Clash are raising the power ammo respawn timer from 45 seconds to 120 seconds. Survival and Showdown aren't quite as drastic as the timer goes from 45 seconds to a full minute.

Hamrick didn't stop there, however, and detailed plenty more sandbox changes with a first patch scheduled for sometime in late-January. Bungie is looking to buff a few weapon archetypes which continue to be underutilized or underperforming. Scout and Fusion rifles remain high on that list as well as sniper rifles. For the later, rapid-fire snipers will be moving to a two-shot body kill, more Lower zoom scopes will be added, and the studio is even considering allowing sniper rifles to one shot kill supers on a headshot.

Subclasses were also mentioned especially the pre-Forsaken ones which have generally fallen by the wayside in favor of the new ones like Nova Warp and Blade Barrage. Bungie is planning to go back and buff the older supers, including the melee-focused classes to retune them to feel as good as Spectral Blades does now. Hamrick admitted that Nova Warp is too strong and will be getting tweaked as part of that late-January update. While the team doesn't have plans to adjust certain powerful exotics like the One-Eyed Mask or Shards of Galanor, these are items that are mentioned often and will likely get looked by the team at some point down the road.

With a holiday season coming up and the studio heading on break, many players will be left to their own devices until the first balance update arrives in January. Thankfully, The Dawning is coming to fill the time and for the first time, bringing food with it. In addition to all the new loot, players will be working with Eva Levante to find cooking supplies and trade them in for all sorts of goodies like enhancement cores, gear, and possible powerful rewards like the Avalanche machine gun.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
