The Red Dead Online Beta has been running for a week now, and many players are already rushing to the multiplayer component of Red Dead Redemption 2 to try it out. Although Rockstar Games mentioned at the start of the Red Dead Online Beta in November that it could not guarantee that player progress and stats will not be wiped after the Beta ends, players will be happy to know that Rockstar has now confirmed that players will in fact be able to keep their progress made during the Beta.

Rockstar Games gave a Beta update in a tweet recently that confirms that it "currently [does] not have any plans to reset [stats and progress] as part of the Beta's rollout." Although the tweet is slightly ambiguous, as "currently" implies that Rockstar may change its mind in the future, for now at least it seems that players will get to keep the progress that they have made during the Beta. The tweet further states that Rockstar will release an update soon that will work on "game stability" and "economy balancing," which seems to be a particularly big concern for players.

It is of course not uncommon for large-scale Betas to reset ranks and player stats ahead of the full release, and many big game Betas, such as Call of Duty, got wiped before the game's release. However, it seems that recently developers are making increasing efforts to keep Beta progress, as it gives players more incentive to play the Beta, such as the Fallout 76 Beta progress that got carried over to the full game.

While Red Dead Online has been received with mixed responses, players seem generally enthusiastic about the game's online mode and its future potential. Many players point out that Betas are there for identifying problems in a game, and should not be judged as a completed game. Considering the poor reception of the completely online Fallout 76 though, many players may be skeptical about Red Dead Online.

Red Dead Online is playable through Red Dead Redemption 2, which is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
