Responding to Player Feedback, Rend Devs Detail Upcoming Combat Changes

The Rend site has been updated with a new developer blog post to lay out some of the changes to combat that players can expect in the upcoming weeks and months. Citing player feedback as the driving force behind the changes, Frostkeep is planning to make combat "feel more impactful and visceral" and to make "weapons feel good" in order to make Rend's combat "competitive with other multiplayer shooters".

One of the key complaints that many early access players have had with Rend is the fact that many weapons felt like "must haves" while others paled in comparison. In addition, players spoke of "a general lack of visual and audible information with regard to gameplay", something Frostkeep plans to work with players to improve in the coming months.

We’ve also been making your targets more engaging to shoot at (and to get attacked by). On the PvP front, players are now able to shoot mid-jump to stay on the offensive while dodging incoming fire as of Patch 6. Additionally, player character movement has been stabilized for smoother turning and walk/sprint transitions, allowing for easier tracking and leading of targets. The team has also performed a full creature pass which means the PvE foes you’ll face now have re-evaluated and improved attacks and special abilities. We plan to continue iterating on the challenge and danger that creatures present in Rend as well as adding new monsters such as Jotuns and more foes introduced in the latest game update.
