As of today, Digital Extremes’s cyber-ninja MMO shooter Warframe has completed its conquest of the current generation of gaming consoles with its release on the Nintendo Switch. Just like its PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 counterparts, the Switch version of Warframe is free to download and play, and it currently has all the game’s content up to the Mask of the Revenant update, with the latest content update, Fortuna, arriving on the Switch “soon.” Although Switch players will have to wait just a bit to get all of the content currently available to PC, Xbox, and PlayStation players, the press release promises that “Warframe on Nintendo Switch will be in content parity with all other consoles in 2019.”

The Switch version of the game allows players to play with “traditional” controls, but it also takes advantage of the Switch’s Joy-Con motion controls, which are available for all actions, from mining to shooting to fishing and so on. And to celebrate the Switch launch of the game, Digital Extremes is providing a package of in-game items to help new players gain a foothold in the game. All players who “install the Comms Segment in the Vor’s Prize tutorial quest” will receive a goody bag containing a three-day affinity booster, an orokin catalyst, an orokin reactor, forma, and 50,000 credits. Also, current Warframe players can migrate their PC accounts to the Switch for an unspecified “limited time frame,” so if you want to make sure you can pick up on the Switch where you left off on PC, be sure to look into that before time runs out.

Warframe is free to download and play on the Nintendo Switch right now, and you can check out the official launch trailer just below.
