Bethesda is embracing the unknown with its latest title Fallout 76. Traditionally known as a single player franchise, this latest entry takes players online and puts them in the rolling hills of West Virginia together. To help ease the game and players into this new world, the company held numerous BETA (Break-it Early Test Application) sessions and even promised that progression would be saved once the full game launched. However, players who are once again entering Appalachia are quickly discovering that achievements and trophies that should have been completed are remaining locked.

Attempting to get ahead of the oncoming wave of inquiries from players, Bethesda's VP of Global Marketing, Pete Hines, took to Twitter to shed some light on the odd Fallout 76 issue. As it turns out, any quests with an associated achievement beaten during the Beta, such as the one unlocked for leaving Vault 76 for the first time, are not actually retroactive and won't unlock immediately. In order to trigger these achievements, players will instead need to use a new character to earn that achievement again.

It's not all bad news, however, as certain achievements will continue to unlock when re-entering Fallout's take on West Virginia. Hines didn't provide a complete list in his Tweet or if the achievements are retroactive or simply available to be unlocked again, but did mention certain first-time actions like setting up a C.A.M.P. or crafting a weapon. Naturally, for those who sunk a ton of hours into the BETA phase, hearing that not everything transfers over has left many fans a bit upset.

PC players are currently exempt from this issue due to the fact that achievements have not yet been added to this version of the game. Unfortunately, these players have a different issue entirely as most are currently unable to uninstall the BETA version from their computer hard drives. During the attempt, an error message indicating that the user does not have access to the game, likely due to the fact that the BETA sessions have since ended. For those still with the issue, it's recommended to wait for a fix just in case it messes with any progress made during the BETA.

Fallout 76 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
