Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery's most recent limited-time side quest, where the main character plays a concert with the Weird Sisters band, has some rather significant developments. During the quest, players acquire a black quill and read a letter written by none other than Mad-Eye Moody, and they also get some solid indication that dating and romance options are right around the corner for the game.

In the Weird Sisters side quest for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, there is a dialogue option that lets players reveal who they "fancy" in the game. They can choose to say that they don't have the hots for any of their friends, or they can select Bill Weasley or Penny Haywood as the fellow Hogwarts student they have a crush on. Not only does this seem to confirm that dating and romance options are still in the works for Hogwarts Mystery, but it also seems to confirm that players will have the choice to pursue homosexual relationships in the game if they so desire.

Unfortunately, concrete plans for dating and romance and how it will work in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery has yet to be revealed by Jam City. The studio has hinted at the feature in the past, and in an interview given shortly after the game's launch, Jam City outright said that it would be coming to the game in some capacity. However, we still don't know anything about it beyond that it's apparently in development.

Previously, many Hogwarts Mystery fans assumed that dating and romance would be added in Year 4. This is because of some dialogue in Year 3 where the player character speaks with Ravenclaw student Andre Egwu during a trip to Hogsmeade. Andre mentions how most Hogwarts students start dating in their fourth year, and if players have a high enough Empathy level, they can even ask for Andre's help with getting a date.

Of course, Year 4 came and went with no sign of any dating or romance options, and there was hardly anything in that year that even hinted at it. It's possible the dialogue in the Weird Sisters side quest will similarly go nowhere, but fans will just have to wait and see.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
