Following Fortnite: Battle Royale's Balloons update, the free-to-play multiplayer survival shooter wound up Vaulting a few weapons. While their absence might disappoint some players, Epic Games always has ideas for fresh firearms to be added so as to keep the title's armory stocked with a diverse set of gear. As a matter of fact, it looks as if the game is set to receive a brand new weapon in the way of a Heavy Assault Rifle.

According to Fortnite Battle Royale's in-game Message of the Day, Epic Games will be bringing the Heavy Assault Rifle into the title "soon", and players can get a look at the weapon's design in the image directly below. Per the firearm's description, players will want to wield the Heavy Assault Rifle at about mid-range while firing shots off in short bursts in order to maintain accuracy.

For those among us who haven't been keeping up with Fortnite and its seemingly endless content cycles, the Heavy Assault Rifle is first new weapon to be added to the game ever since the addition of the Quad Launcher. What's more is that this is going to be the third variant of the Assault Rifle weapon to be added to the title thus far. This time around, though, it looks as if the Heavy AR aims to put the weapon's focus on a much higher damage output.

Since Fortnite fans will have to remain patient until the Heavy Assault Rifle makes its way into the game's Battle Royale portion, Epic has thankfully stocked the title with plenty of content to keep players engaged with the release and make sure the wait doesn't feel too long. For instance, Fortnite's Season 6 Week 6 challenges went live not too long ago, and there's still time left for fans to enjoy the game's Fortnitemares 2018 event.

Fortnite is available now for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
