Betawatch: Ashes of Creation tests battle royale, Occupy White Walls hands out beta keys

I'm fine. We're fine. This is fine. Everything's fine like wine.

So… all right. Ashes of Creation has a secondary side battle royale mode that’s going to be entitled Ashes of Creation: Apocalypse and is available for free-to-play testing after the game hits alpha one. That’s a thing that’s happening. This isn’t a joke, it’s just… what they’re doing.

This is fine. It’s fine. This is completely fine. Everything is fine. It’s fine. It’s fine! Let’s talk about other beta news. This is fine.

  • Occupy White Walls is dishing out free beta keys in its Discord channel ahead of its arrival on Steam. Just head to the “keys channel and then ping @BetaKey” – keys are on offer “as long as the supply lasts.” Go get ’em.
  • Some rough times have happened with the start of the Fallout 76 beta, but the developers are on top of it… with lore. Also, you know, reminders that the game is still in beta, we’re sure this will all be hammered out in a few days. Bethesda wouldn’t ship an obvious beta, right? This is fine.
  • Security around New World is pretty porous, so a lot of leaks have been coming out that paint the title as much less of a survival sandbox and more as a full-featured MMO. This is actually fine.
  • It’s taken a long while, but Lost Ark seems like it’s finally heading to open beta on November 7th, complete with an epic trailer. Sure, it’s taken a really long time, but it’s happening! It’s fine. Everything is fine. (We still don’t know when or if it’ll be localized, though.)
  • Fractured is not just ambling toward its pre-alpha testing, it is downright sprinting. We assume that’s a metaphor and the developers are not actually at standing desks with treadmills, but tech is a weird sector.

In summary, everything is fine. There’s a list of games in testing down below, and that is also fine. Everything is fine. It’s fine. Did something skip into a new test phase without us knowing? That’s fine, too, especially if you let us know about it.

As always, we consider an MMO to be in open testing if it features free, public signups and will server wipe prior to launch. An MMO is marked in closed testing if it’s running a private test phase that cannot freely be accessed by the general public; it’s usually under NDA as well. Early access and crowdfunded MMOs whose tests we deem legitimate will be included. So-called “open beta” soft-launch MMOs with cash shops, no sign of launch in the west, or limited interest for our readers will not be listed; we also do not list expansions, with occasional exceptions.
