Ubisoft removing references to gambling, skulls for global Rainbow Six Siege release

Expansion to Asia to come with aesthetic game changes for "single, global vision" of the game

Ubisoft has revealed today it will be making a number of cosmetic changes to Rainbow Six Siege as the game prepares for release in Asian territories. These changes will be made in all versions of the game for a "single, global vision" of the title as opposed to multiple builds.

The aesthetic changes include removal of skulls, references to gambling, sexual content, and environmental blood to conform with content regulations in certain countries. Some icons will be changed (such as the melee icon from a dagger to a fist) as well.

The company is reassuring players the changes will not affect gameplay and are only aesthetic.

"By maintaining a single build, we are able to reduce the duplication of work on the development side," the news post explains. "This will allow us to be more agile as a development team, and address issues more quickly.

"Having the same people working on a singular global version of the game ensures we only need to do the work once. In addition, we can guarantee that any future changes are aligned with the global regulations we are working towards."
