First up, some bad news. Edge Case’s gorgeous F2P MOBA Fractured Space is ending development and essentially going into maintenance mode “for the foreseeable future.” The good news? It’s gone truly free and the team has fully removed premium currency from the game. (via RPS)
Wondering what happened to the folks from Runic Games after Perfect World closed them down? Eight of them have apparently founded Monster Squad, secured funding, and aim to publish a co-op title that involves players early in development.
ESPN reported this week that NBA legend Michael Jordan invested a chunk of his fortune in Team Liquid parent company aXiomatic – yes, that’s real sports stars investing in e-sports, folks.
Fortnite studio Epic Games has picked up even more money to swim around in: $1.25 billion in venture capital. Fortnite’s also got branded Nerf guns coming.

Finally, Bloomberg noted that the games release situation in China is looking worse, not better. MMO readers will recall that Chinese regulatory agencies had all but stopped approving new games for release in the country, both domestic and foreign. Now, it appears even the limited “green channel” approval system has been closed.
