If it seems like we’ve been talking about the Oculus lawsuit for a really long time, that’s because we have. The original suit itself was decided mostly in ZeniMax’s favor last year, but the drama lingered on as the two companies continued fighting over just how much money was owed. And then in March of last year, Oculus CTO John Carmack sued ZeniMax Media separately for breaching his asset purchase agreement, claiming ZeniMax was refusing to pay him out of the company. ZeniMax, for its part, claimed Carmack had violated his employment agreement and named him a lead actor in theft of trade secrets per the core lawsuit.
Well, it now appears that secondary suit is over, so you’ll have to stash that popcorn for another time. Carmack tweeted last week that ZeniMax has paid up and his personal lawsuit had drawn to a close.
My personal legal disputes are over — Zenimax has fully satisfied their obligations to me from the purchase of Id Software, and we have released all claims against each other. (The appeal for Oculus still goes forward)

Of course, as Carmack notes, Oculus itself is continuing to appeal just how much money it’ll ultimately be forced to pay out to ZeniMax.
