Earlier this summer, Epic Games finally brought its wildly successful free-to-play title Fortnite Battle Royale to Android users by way of a private beta that required an invite in order to play the game on devices that support the mobile operating system. Now, however, it looks as if that beta period has finally concluded, as the developer has officially announced that the multiplayer sandbox survival shooter is available for all Android users to download.

For those who wish to get Fortnite Battle Royale for their Android devices, they will be required to go to Epic Games' specific website dedicated to the title (right here), as the game isn’t available to download through Google’s Play Store. The reason for this is due to Epic's CEO, Tim Sweeney, expressing a desire to accomplish the company's goal of bringing its video games directly to those who want to play them instead of relying on middlemen as distributors.

Of course, Fortnite is also available for iOS players, but it's worth noting that Epic Games still has to go through Apple's App Store in order for iOS users to actually acquire the game. No doubt, this is counterproductive to Sweeney's aforementioned aims, as the Epic CEO has previously stated that if there a way for him to bypass this distribution method, he would. Alas, it's not in the cards when it comes to putting software out on Apple products.

All things considered, it will be interesting to see just how much larger Fortnite Battle Royale's player base will expand now that the game is available to all Android users. Not to mention, Epic's free-to-play title recently smashed a huge mobile revenue record on iOS alone, so it's a safe bet to presume that the company's earnings from the game will likely grow to become much larger than ever before.

Fortnite is available now in early access for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
