The New World site has come to life with the great news that developers are looking for explorers to sign up for alpha testing and become "one of the first people to set foot on a mysterious continent". There is no word on  when alpha testing will begin, however, the system specs have been revealed.

Sign up for Alpha testing on the New World site. (click "Email me" to be registered)

Join a Company and work together to claim territories, build thriving settlements, fight off player bandits, and push back the dark and wild forces that occupy the land to leave your mark on history. Adventure, exploration, and opportunity await you on Tera Vitae Aeternum.

During Alpha, you will be able to share your feedback by playing the game or joining the New World community. Your feedback and insights will help guide decisions and inspire ideas that will shape New World. We are committed to collaboration and communication as the only way forward and are eager to have you join us.

What are the system requirements for the game?

We recommend the following:

  • Processor: Intel Core i7-2600K/AMD Ryzen 5 1400
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD Radeon R9 390X or better
  • Memory: 16GB RAM
  • Storage: SSD
  • DirectX 12 and Windows 10 or better
  • Hard Drive Space: 35GB
  • Internet connection required

Tech Advisor is also featuring an article where reporter Sean Bradley managed to check out the latest build at Gamescom. Here's a bit of what he had to say:

New World is focusing on a couple of key aspects that will set it apart from the current mainstream MMORPG stock. First of all, there are no classes. The game supports a wide array of skills and specialisations that you are free to persue and work towards as you wish. If you'd like to tank, heal, support, do damage as a sneaky rogue or a powerful mage all these options are available to you.

The gear system is also equally varied, and so between this and the open ended progression system, you will be offered a large amount of customisation for your character. The style of armour and weapons is psudo-faithful to the time period so you will find muskets and explosives can be found along with your standard array of melee and magic.

This focus on specialisations combined with a deep crafting system and a dangerous world means you will want to make some friends. The game puts a very heavy focus on social features and everything that comes along with player interaction. Forming guilds to take on greater challenges and build your empire (more on that in a moment) will be a good idea if you want to survive.

Will YOU be signing up for New World?
