Chris Avellone’s Pathfinder: Kingmaker will be published by Deep Silver

Deep Silver has announced that it will be publishing crowdfunded RPG Pathfinder: Kingmaker.

Based on the pen and paper roleplaying game, Pathfinder: Kingmaker is veteran writer Chris Avellone’s latest foray into old-school RPG development. The project was funded on Kickstarter in June 2017, raising over $900,000 - well above its $400,000 target.

Avellone is working with Russian studio Owlcat Games to develop Kingmaker, and Deep Silver announced yesterday that it will be publishing the traditional RPG.

“We have ambitious plans for Pathfinder: Kingmaker,” said Owlcat Games head Oleg Shpilchevsky to GamesBeat. “We want to reach out to the maximum number of players across the globe, making our brand easily accessible, maintaining quality and doing right by the fanbase. Working with Deep Silver ensures we can step up our retail marketing and benefit from the unique experience offered with [Deep Silver parent company Koch Media.]”

Kingmaker isn’t Avellone’s only project these days. At E3 this year, the venerable writer took the stage to announce his contribution to Techland’s Dying Light 2.
