Talent Agency UTA Moves Into Esports With Acquisitions Of Other Agencies

by Imran Khan on Jun 27, 2018 at 03:09 PM

United Talent Agency, a firm that represents entertainment industry heavies like Benedict Cumberbatch, Brad Bird, Wes Anderson, and Judd Apatow among many others, is moving into esports representation with a number of key acquisitions.

UTA announced today that they have acquired Press X and Everyday Influencers as part of an effort to establish an esports and streamer division within the agency. This division will represent esports players and influencers like League of Legends stars Aphromoo and sOAZ, as well as streamers Imaqtpie, Pokimane and Disguised Toast with more to be announced.

This isn't UTA's first foray into the gaming world, as the firm has already represented a number of game designers and studios like Ken Levine and Klei Entertainment.

UTA is fairly huge, so if they're making an effort to get into esports, then they recognize there's about to be a lot of money in it. Representation might make for better events on the consumer level, as well, since it means the players will be able to get the business end handled by people experienced in that arena.
