Warhammer Vermintide 2 sells half a million copies in two days

The latest video game adaptation of Games Workshop Warhammer franchise has done rather well for itself, selling 500,000 copies in just two days.

Developer and publisher Fatshark announced the figure, also saying that its game had been watched for over 204m minutes on streaming platform Twitch, with players killing 50 billion enemies during their time with the title.

The title launched on PC on Tuesday, March 8th. CEO Martin Wahlund said that the team had this figure in mind as one of their goals, but have reached it much faster than anticipated.

For context – the previous iteration in the series, Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide – sold 300,000 copies in its first month. The sequel is obviously doing much, much better.

Vermintide 2 debuted in second place in the Steam Top Tenhaving appeared in third place based on pre-orders alone the week before showing a sizeable demand for the Warhammer shooter.

“We are proud and happy that gamers worldwide have taken Warhammer: Vermintide 2 to their hearts," he said.

“500,000 games sold was a milestone that we had, but not less than a week after release.”

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ports of the game are set for launch in the future, with beta tests for both platforms taking place at some point this spring.
