Companions, Crafting & Italian Language Stretch Goals Cut

Reddit user Snakespaw has compiled a list of links to confirmation that several features have been cut from Torment: Tides of Numenera. Three companions, a crafting system and Italian language localization have been stripped from the final release of the game. 

Torment was originally designed for 9 unique companionsbut the list has been cut to 6. The omission was discovered when the trophy list was published on the PlayStation trophy site. Developers responded by writing:

The companion roster has been slightly reduced from our initial plans. Throughout development on Torment, our philosophy has always emphasized depth and reactivity in our storyline and in our characters. We know you would not be satisfied with anything else. During development, we found that the more far reaching and reactive our companions were, the better they felt and the more justice it did to the original Planescape: Torment. This trade-off meant we were able to add more companion conversations, banter, voice-over, quests, and story endings. We did not want to leave some companions feeling shallow, with storylines that felt incomplete, or be forced to shove them into the late game. That said, we certainly haven't shut the door on Torment’s development. We still have a lot of early work done on other companions and are open to continuing to work on the game. We can say that any DLCs or expansions that we put out will always be free to our backers of that game, so there is no need to worry about paying for any additional content in Torment.

It will remain to be seen if or when these removed companions will be added to the game. 

In addition, crafting was also dropped when InXile's Eric Schwarz said that that the system that was in development felt more like an MMO kind of system that did not fit well with the Torment style of gameplay. 

Lastly, Italian customers are being offered refunds as the localization has been cut. Looking at statistical information from other games created by the company, it was felt that the amount of money generated from the Italian community would be too little to offset the cost of localization.
