Rise Of The Tomb Raider Season Pass Rises Prematurely

by Parker Lemke on Oct 02, 2015 at 08:37 AM

A season pass for Rise of the Tomb Raider appeared on Amazon yesterday, priced at $29.99 for Xbox One. The listing emerged without an announcement from Microsoft Studios, which has partnered with Square Enix to publish Lara Croft’s latest adventure.

Amazon’s product description is sparse on details, saying only that the season pass “includes a range of content that will extend your single-player campaign, and also allow you to compete with friends.”

If the details in the listing are accurate, the season pass will launch November 10, when Rise of the Tomb Raider is set to come out on Xbox One and Xbox 360. Sqaure Enix plans to put out a PC version of the game in early 2016, followed by a PS4 release later that year when Microsoft’s console exclusivity expires.

We’ve reached out to Microsoft for comment and will update the story when we have more information. Until then, you can read our recent Rise of the Tomb Raider preview to learn more about the game.

Our Take
With only a vague Amazon listing to go by, it’s difficult to gauge just what kind of content tomb raiders can expect from this season pass. Crystal Dynamics has not spoken about a multiplayer mode in Rise of the Tomb Raider, which makes the apparent mention of a competitive mode here revealing.
